DOE | Re-X Before Recycling Prize
DOE’s Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technologies Office launched the three-phase Re-X Before Recycling Prize. The prize is looking for innovations that could keep materials in use beyond a single life cycle and increase the recovery and reuse rate of end-of-use products. Extending the lifecycles of these products reduces the embodied energy and carbon of manufactured goods, strengthens regional manufacturing supply chains, increases U.S. security of supply, create jobs, and reduces environmental burdens related to landfilling, incineration, and extraction.

MassCEC | Embodied Carbon Reduction Challenge
MassCEC has engaged Built Environment Plus (BE+) to conduct an Embodied Carbon Challenge for new construction and major renovation projects in Massachusetts. Submissions with replicable, innovative, and impactful changes to reduce embodied carbon in their projects will be best positioned for prizes.
This Challenge has two goals:
Demonstrate low-cost, high-impact changes that significantly reduce embodied carbon
Assist design teams in gaining expertise to advise clients about options for reducing embodied carbon, including using tools to estimate embodied carbon impacts

MassCEC | BETA: Commercial Buildings Pilot
The Building Electrification and Transformation Accelerator (BETA): Commercial Buildings Pilot is a MassCEC initiative that will provide free in-depth building audits to support a selection of commercial building owners in planning electrification and decarbonization retrofits. These custom plans will be utilized to create a robust set of market resources that support pathways towards full commercial building electrification.

NYSERDA | Empire Technology Prize
The Empire Technology Prize is focused on finding groundbreaking solutions to tackle the greatest single source of GHG emissions from New York’s tall buildings – heating. Solutions that will be significantly easier for tall building owners to adopt – in short, high GHG reduction, minimally disruptive to install, with a path to cost competitiveness.

HUD | Green and Resilient Retrofit Program (GRRP)
Funding for direct loans and grants to fund projects that improve energy or water efficiency, enhance indoor air quality, implement zero-emission electricity generation, building electrification, or address climate resilience. Eligible owners primarily include owners receiving HUD rental assistance under Multifamily Section 8 project-based rental assistance, Section 202 Supportive Housing for Low-Income Elderly, and Section 811 Supportive Housing for Low-Income Persons with Disabilities.
